About DARTpharm
Hosted by the Tadross Lab at Duke University, DARTpharm is the distribution platform for DART reagents. DART (Drug Acutely Restricted by Tethering) is a novel approach for targeting pharmaceuticals to defined cell types in the brain.
Currently, we offer DART reagents at no cost* to approved labs from academic institutions (*excludes S&H).
How DART Works
DART employs cell-type-specific AAV approaches to express the
HaloTag Protein (HTP) in the desired cell type.
At a later time, an Rx-DART ligand is applied, which determines the receptor of interest (e.g., GABA or AMPA receptor) and mode of action
(e.g., antagonism or positive allosteric modulation).
The system is modular. Cells are defined by HTP, which covalently captures any of our Rx-DART ligands, accumulating the drug to levels substantially higher than the ambient concentration.

DART Reagents
DART in 2 easy steps:
- AAV vector generates HaloTag protein (HTP) on surface of your cell type
- Rx-DART ligand tethers only to cells expressing HTP.
